Assistant Vice President, Ports and Marine Engineering

WSP USA is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Ports and Marine Engineering to join our National Maritime Practice Group. This position can be based out of the following offices: Irvine+San Francisco-CA, Miami-FL, New York City-NY, Portland-OR, Seattle-WA, Houston-TX, Tampa-FL.

Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for the development, design, construction, and or inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; these facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls/bulkheads, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore/offshore facilities. Responsibilities:  
  • Execution and coordination of freight forwarding orders in international sea transport;
  • Ensuring the appropriate selection of subcontractors, negotiating rates and terms of cooperation with service providers (road and intermodal carriers, shipping lines, customs agencies, etc.);
  • Developing relationships with clients;
  • Ensuring the quality of provided services;
  • Building relationships with newly acquired clients;
  • Preparing price offers for quotations/tenders together with the sales specialist and TL manager, developing alternative solutions, and ensuring their compliance with customer requirements;
  • Preparing freight forwarding documentation as well as documentation for export and import customs clearance;
  • Daily cooperation with the company’s operational departments, Astra’s international offices, and other AsstrA’s divisions;
  • Monitoring the implementation of KPIs.

Skills:

 
  • Strong knowledge of maritime transportation market;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with key market players in maritime transportation;
  • Strong background in Logistics/Transportation (minimum 3 years of experience);
  • Fluency in English is a must (knowledge of additional foreign languages is a big asset);
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel);
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills;
  • Customer-oriented and self-motivated.
