Role Description
In this role, you will play a critical role in planning, validating, and executing vessel berthing and dockside operations for Sail4th 250. You will be responsible for ensuring all participating vessels are safely and efficiently matched to pier locations, with a strong focus on feasibility, safety, and operational alignment. This position requires close coordination with internal teams, vessel representatives, and external partners to ensure seamless maritime operations across all event locations.
Qualifications
· Conduct site surveys of designated piers to assess suitability for assigned vessels, including access, dimensions, and operational constraints
· Review and validate the overall vessel logistics plan, identifying gaps, conflicts, or risks across all assigned ships
· Evaluate and recommend alternative berthing options, including additional or contingency pier locations to improve operations or address constraints
· Match vessels to piers, ensuring safe and appropriate dockage based on vessel size, draft, maneuverability, and pier capabilities
· Develop and refine berthing plans and vessel layouts at each pier, ensuring safe spacing, access, and operational flow
· Cross-reference vessel specifications with pier data, including freeboard alignment, fendering requirements, and depth and clearance considerations
· Ensure all berthing plans meet safety standards and operational best practices
· Assist with coordination and communication with ship captains and participating vessels, ensuring clarity on docking plans, requirements, and expectations
· Collaborate with the broader maritime team to ensure alignment between vessel logistics, parade operations, and shoreside planning
· Identify gaps in planning and proactively develop solutions to address operational challenges
· Ability to accurately create and interpret Class B charts, ensuring precise data plotting, clear labeling, and visually effective presentation for analysis and reporting
· Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for everyday tasks such as data entry, basic formulas, sorting/filtering, and creating simple charts to organize and present information clearly.
