About The Role The Safety & Compliance Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and regulatory compliance for the transportation of hazardous materials. This role ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (including DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, OSHA, and EPA), while fostering a strong safety culture across operations.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Ensure full compliance with U.S. hazardous materials transportation regulations (49 CFR)
  • Understand and apply DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, OSHA, and EPA regulations to company operations.
  • Develop, manage and maintain company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures, including emergency response and risk mitigation.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions while driving continues improvements in safety performance.
  • Oversee HAZMAT training and employee certifications.
  • Conduct internal audits and manage regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and safety records.
  • Support operations with safe handling, transport, and risk assessments of hazardous materials.

Qualifications That Are Important To Us

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of safety/compliance experience in hazardous materials or transportation.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements (DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, OSHA, EPA).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, OSHA, HAZMAT) preferred.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
