Investment Banking Vice President | Industrials (Maritime)

About the Group

Jefferies’ Industrials Group is one of the firm’s most active coverage platforms, with significant transaction volume across transportation, logistics, maritime, aerospace & defense, capital goods, and environmental services. The Global Maritime vertical is a highly specialized subsector within Industrials, advising shipowners and operators, maritime leasing companies, private equity sponsors, infrastructure investors, and maritime services businesses across the global shipping and marine energy ecosystem.

Position Overview

Jefferies is seeking a highly motivated Vice President to join its Global Maritime team in New York. The VP will play a critical leadership role across transaction execution, client coverage, and junior team management, while contributing to sector thought leadership and supporting senior bankers in origination efforts.

The role requires strong judgment, deep execution expertise, and the ability to manage complex, cross‑border advisory processes in an industry shaped by geopolitics, global trade flows, vessel economics, energy transition dynamics, and capital‑intensive operating models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of M&A, capital markets, and strategic advisory transactions, serving as day‑to‑day quarterback across sell‑side, buy‑side, and capital raising processes
  • Oversee complex financial modeling and valuation analyses (DCF, trading and transaction comps, NAV, vessel‑ and fleet‑level economics), ensuring analytical rigor, commercial relevance, and consistency with client objectives
  • Manage end‑to‑end due diligence processes, coordinating commercial, technical, environmental, regulatory, legal, and tax workstreams with internal teams and external advisors
  • Drive preparation of high‑impact client‑facing materials, including CIMs, management presentations, board materials, valuation frameworks, and investment committee analyses
  • Support senior bankers in ongoing client coverage and origination across public shipowners, private/family‑owned businesses, maritime leasing platforms, PE sponsors, infrastructure funds, and maritime services and logistics companies
  • Participate actively in client meetings, contributing to strategic advisory discussions, transaction structuring, valuation positioning, and execution planning
  • Develop informed perspectives on maritime sector trends, including freight markets, supply and orderbook dynamics, vessel asset values, regulatory and emissions regimes, and energy transition impacts
  • Contribute to pitch development and sector thought leadership materials, helping position the firm as a trusted advisor across the global maritime landscape
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Associates and Analysts, providing guidance on modeling, materials, execution processes, and professional development
  • Act as a key liaison between junior bankers and senior leadership to ensure efficient execution, high‑quality output, and adherence to internal controls and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate staffing, workflow prioritization, and cross‑border collaboration with global Industrials and sector teams to optimize resource allocation and execution timelines
  • Support recruiting, training, and broader team‑building initiatives, while helping refine best practices and continuously improve execution quality

Qualifications

Required

  • Typically 6–9+ years of relevant investment banking experience, with prior Vice President or strong Associate experience
  • Extensive hands‑on experience executing M&A and/or capital markets transactions
  • Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills, with experience analyzing asset‑heavy and cyclical businesses
  • Proven ability to lead multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast‑paced, high‑autonomy environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a polished client‑facing demeanor
  • High degree of professionalism, sound judgment, and a strong client‑service orientation

Preferred

  • Prior experience in shipping, maritime, transportation, logistics, energy infrastructure, or related Industrials sectors
  • Working knowledge of maritime fundamentals, including freight markets, vessel asset classes, charter structures, and emissions regulations
  • Experience managing cross‑border or multi‑jurisdictional transactions
  • Demonstrated interest in maritime, global trade, and energy/infrastructure‑related advisory work
